Advertisement is a new way to influence people to buy products. It is spread everywhere : television, radio, magazines, newspapers, the internet, posters (in the city)... Everybody is more or less influenced by advertisements. People who always watch TV are manipulated. Indeed between all programs all kinds of adverts are shown. They may not know it, but they are controlled by TV and its advertisements. Some people do not like watching TV. However they are also affected because they are forced to see advertisements in newspapers or magazines... |
In fact, advertising is a strategy using colours, perspective, slogans, which concern the mind. We cannot do anything against it! However advertisements can also be an art. Adverts may be a picture, a photography (often), a sculpture... All elements have to be in alliance, calculated, planned in order to be aesthetic We can compare them with the propaganda posters or caricatures of the XIXth century which wanted people to join a political party, a social revolution... Nowadays advertisements are not original. It is only a way of economical competition, of marketing, which is used as a power to control people.
