World AIDS day

Today, the 1st of December, is world AIDS day. Started in 1988, World AIDS Day is not just about raising money, but also about increasing awareness, education and fighting prejudice. World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done. The red ribbon is an international symbol of AIDS awareness that is worn by people all the year and particularly around World AIDS Day to demonstrate care and concern about HIV and AIDS, and to remind others of the need for their support and commitment.
There are many ways in which the world AIDS day can be supported .

For example by
- raising awareness of HIV and AIDS
- wearing a red ribbon and asking others to do the same
- protecting yourself and your partners - this is the first and best way to stop the spread of HIV.
Don't forget that AIDS is still killing.Actually, the precise number of people living with HIV, people who have been newly infected or who have died of AIDS, is not known. But we have estimations:
- number of people living with HIV in 2005 : 40.3 million
- Aids deaths in 2005 : 3.1 million
- people newly infected in 2005 : 4.9 million

I think AIDS day is not represented enough . Many scientists think that the human race will disappear because of a contamination. Of course it has not come yet (I hope so) and it doesn't have to come because of AIDS. But diseases have be taken more seriously by the world population .
