Bringing democracy with bombs. Is that possible?

Before answering the question , let us remind you what democracy meant at the beginning. This word is of Greeck origin : "Demos" means the people and "cratos" power. The US army went to the Gulf a second time to capture Saddam Hussein because he had weapons of mass desstruction and had welcomed Al-Qayda's training camp. Although the Bush administration couldn't prove it, media like "Fox News" had convinced the US public opinion that this war was useful to make America safer. Bush did not need to give explanations because he used "God" as a reason to make war. And this couldn't be questioned. Using the word "God" so many times to justify the death of thousands and thousands of innocent people is really rotten. American soldiers are still fighting Iraqi rebels 18
months after the official end of the war, but the war has not really
stopped and local populations can't be the only responsible for this. When
the Americans arrived and made the population free, a lot of people were
injured by bombings and hospitals were plundered. The GIs couldn't avoid
this, but the department of oil was protected. How can you explain the USA
didn't invade Iraq for oil but to bring democracy? |
And the worse is that it is not the only reason to say "no" to the war. We know there are a lot of Muslims in Great Britain too, but we don't think, with 2 million people marching against war in London, making war was what the population had wished. Look at the situation today. More and more GIs are going to die each week because rebels want to revenge the death of members of their family. If people go out, a sniper is there to shoot them, so they only try the most often to protect their family, and they are not all terrorists. Local populations are afraid of soldiers, they can't trust them any more now. Maybe it is time for the coalition to leave. America is a democracy. No one can deny it. And France
(whatever you may hear on Fox News) is still grateful to America for
liberating it in 1944. We are not cowards but peaceful. Europe fights
terrorism too, but only terrorism. And we think it is not dignified for a
democracy to lead a war for money and to impose its ideas. Even if
American values seem to us to be better than theirs.
