To choose your cat

Your cat will be part of the family for almost 20 years. So you have to make the right choice! In a litter , you will get the most alert and the most affectionate kittens. Males as well as females will be excellent domestic animals.

Will you choose a cat or a kitten?

Kittens are irresistible but they have a lot to learn : correct behaviour at home and control. Adults are always educated but it takes them time to get used to living in their new home.

When you choose a cat, you have to pay attention to :

- clean ears
- alert eyes
- clean nose ( be careful with diseases)
- white teeth, pink gum
- not too fat, not too thin (swollen stomack means worms)
- shiny fur, well maintained, without any dirt of fleas
- good behaviour, not too agressive
- good health means vivacity!

One or two?

If you have to leave your cat alone all day because of your job, it is better for him to have a companion. But an only cat will be joyful if he is loved. To have two cats can be twice as funny but twice as expensive for food, vaccinations, etc.

Race and pedigrees

If you wish to have a pure-bred cat, take the time to learn all the races you can obtain. It is known that cat races are different from dog races. A large number of races have got the same morphology, it is only a difference of size. You have to know if you want a pure-bred cat, you have to be sure you will wash it completely every day.

Finally, the behaviour of certain pure-bred cats  is specific : for example, Persians and Rogdolls are quite calm contrary to Singapors which are very shy, and Siamese are extremely noisy.

Whatever their origins, the cat or the kitten you will choose will be an excellent friend for you.
