Patricia Cornwell is the author of crime novels with the heroine "Dr Scarpetta", a medical examiner. P. Cornwell's books are realistic and spectacular because the novels include a great deal of details and P.Cornwell herself worked at a crime lab in Virginia. "Postmortem" is her first book. Today it is a standard for many crime novel readers. Actually P. Cornwell did several notable charitable acts.

What about P. Cornwell characters ?

Kay Scarpeta was born in Miami . She is Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond, Virginia. There are four district offices. Central Office in Richmond, Tidewater in Norfolk, Western in Roanoke and Northern in Alexandria. She lives in a wealthy area of Richmond.

Pete Marino is a police officer, who has moved to Richmond from New York and is a member of the VICAP (Violent Criminal Apprehension Program) team in Richmond. He and his wife Doris are divorced after 30 years of marriage.

Benton Wesley is a FBI suspect profiler, works very close with Kay Scarpetta and Pete Marino. During the span of years covered by the books he becomes the chief of FBI's Behavioral Science Unit at Quantico.

Information on her last book

Her last book is "Trace". She has sold millions of copies. Trace is now already a Best Seller.

There is a good summary here.

I think it is the best of the Scarpetta books. If you like crime novels or detective stories, this is for you.
