"The diary of a motocyclist" is a Brazilian dramatic comedy directed by Walter Salles.

For 2 hours and 6 minutes, this film, adapted from Che Guevara's diaries, tells about the youth of two men : Ernesto Guevara de la Serna (Gael Garcia Bernal) and Alberto Granado (Rodrigo de la Serna).
The story begins in 1952 in Argentina. Two young men, Ernesto and Alberto, go and discover their continent: Latin America. During the motorbike trip ("la Puissante" in French), they discover the social reality of two countries.

They see social differences between people who are ill (who have leprosy) and doctors who give cares. The ill people and the doctors are separated by a river. They have not got a lot of medicine. They learn a lot of things thanks to that for their career because they are a medicine student (Ernesto) and a young doctor (Alberto).

This film presents a lot of funny moments. During this story we understand the evolution of Che Guevara’s ideas. You can still see this film. So rush to watch it because it is a beautiful story (and Gael Garcia Bernal too).

I saw this film in Spanish with my Spanish class and another class.
Thanks to this film I've discovered the beginning of Che Guevara's life before his entry into politics. It's a really interesting movie, well made with humour, thanx to the second main character!
I advise you to see it ( but I think it isn't on anymore....) or to buy the DVD or the video K7 if you are interested in Che Guevara.

In my opinion "The diary of a motocyclist" is an excellent film. Both actors performance were very good (Gael Garcia Bernal as Ernesto Guevara de la Serna and Rodrigo de la Serna as Alberto Granado) and they show in a funny way the beginning of Che Guevara's life, it's a very interesting and beautiful movie. I think that the article is good, it tells clearly the subject of the movie.
