EXCHANGE BLOIS - SILVOLDE

Amsterdam

by Marije (Sept 6, 2005)

During the exchange week in April we went to Amsterdam with 3 different classes all on the same day. Our class and the French exchange partners went with the French bus to Amsterdam. That wasn’t very nice because French buses are very small and Dutch students can be very tall. We left from the swimming pool at 8 o’clock and we arrived in Amsterdam around half past 10. In the bus we got a booklet with some guidelines about the day and that we all had to stay together with our partners.
Our class was part of group 2 and first of all we went all together to the Rijksmuseum. There was a major queue standing in front of the entrance but we didn’t have to wait and could almost walk through immediately. That was the first time I had ever been in the Rijksmuseum but it wasn’t what I had expected. It was a bit boring because we got a task about paintings and statues which we had to fill in. The French students also found it a bit boring.
After the visit to the Rijksmuseum the group was split up to two smaller groups. Group A went to the Anne Frankhuis and group B had some free time before they had to go to the Anne Frankhuis.

I was part of group B and we decided to go to the Albert Cuypmarket. Almost all the French students wanted to shop for souvenirs and so we decided to walk to the Dam, because there are many large shopping streets like the “Kalverstraat”.
At half past 3 we visited the Anne Frankhuis. This was a very interesting museum.
I really liked it because it wasn’t boring at all and because I was interested in the subject WW ll.
Instead of going to a McDonalds one by one we went with the whole group to a pizzeria which was a good idea because it was very enjoyable.
After the pizzeria we all went to the bus again to leave Amsterdam and most of us were tired.
