Yaniss Odua

Ragga's roots.

At the origin raggamufin means:  he who goes naked-foot, good-for-nothing, then it became smart. Raggamuffin is also a Jamaican musical style, it is approximately the new reggae, but really approximately, it is a mixture of rap and reggae.
But raggamuffin in Jamaica is a state of mind, it is a way of life. In fact, the raggamuffins listen to raggamuffin music, they sing it, and live with it.

Yaniss' biography.

Yaniss Odua comes from Martinique, he started to sing in dance-halls at 12, and he made his first LP one year later. " Little Yaniss " was the public's favorite and they never forgot him, he made numerous concerts in the French West Indies (Antilles). In 1998 Yaniss came in France and he was hardly known . After some featuring ( Joey Starr, Pierpoljak, Tippa Irie ) he became very appreciated and important in the ragga movement . In spring 2002 he made a new LP named " Yon pa yon " that signified one by one in English . The lyrics of Yaniss are very diverse, they talk about Babylon's problem, dance-hall parties, love....etc... Yannis Odua is one of the recent phenomena of the French-speaking ragga scene.
