J.K. Rowling

by Aude (March 10, 2005)

J .K. Rowling was born in 1967 in Wales. Her real name is Joann Kathleen Rowling.. She's got a little sister, two years younger, whose name is D.I Rowling.

She began to write when she was 5 years old. It was an adventure with rabbits. At school she was a very good pupil but she didn't like sport. She went to Paris for her studies and she got a diploma in French and foreign languages. To begin she wrote thrillers for adults but it didn't come on the market. Then it was in 1990 that Harry Potter and his wizard's school came to her mind while she was waiting for the train. It was only 3 years later that she began to write these adventures.
In 3 years she had the time to teach in a Portuguese school, to marry a Portuguese journalist and deliver a girl whose name is Jessica. After her divorce she settled in Edimburgh. She devoted her time to writing the book for six months.

Her manuscript was refused several times, but one day it was noticed by Bloomsbury. Then it was sold in an auction sale in the United States.
The first Harry Potter volume was a phenomenal successful sale .Then the book was translated into thirty languages and sold all over the world in the following eight months.
Seven books are expected, one every year, which represents one more year in Poudlar, where Harry and the others will grow at the same time.

J.K. Rowling still lives in Edimburgh with her daughter, her young son and her husband.
Even if her books are a success, she doesn't want to live in the media in order to write the new adventures of Harry, her little wizard.

She's expecting her third child for 2005 and she keeps writing her sixth book.
