  House of slaves

Sinsemilia is a French reggae band. The story started at the end of the eighties : three young men, who live in Grenoble, wanted to create a band.

During the year the number of people in the group grew up to reach eleven people for the last album : "Debout, les yeux ouverts".

The original member was very influenced by famous reggae artists like Bob Marley, but the people who came to the group afterwards were more influenced by rock music. So the group is not very classified with a lot of different influences.

This explains the various instruments in the groups : guitar, saxophone, battery...
Sinsemilia is one of the well-known reggae artists in France, such as Tryo, due to very beautiful, but at the same time, very engaged. Indeed Sinsemilia creates almost poetic songs, like "Je vous souhaite tout le bonheur du monde" in the last album, or disturbing songs when they state their opinion : 

"Je reviens exprimer mes peurs et ma colère. Je ressens l'urgence même si ma peau est claire, j'entends les gens dire "les fachos reviennent, ils n'ont pas tort,[...]le borgne ou Hitler, c'est du pareil au même, l'un a eu le pouvoir, l'autre pas encore, mais c'est la même demer... les mêmes mensonges, les mêmes magouilles, le même amour de la haine".
In spite of their popularity, the band is still very attached to their root, they continue to create the event on small stages (but they can attract 10 000 people in a free event ), they continue to give free events in Grenoble, and they want to help young reggae or ska groups in France with helping a promotion or a recording.
