A minotaur was imprisoned in a labyrinth, in Crete. Every nine years, he received seven girls and seven boys who were given in sacrifice. When Theseus heard of this sacrifice, he decided to enter the labyrinth with thirteen other victims in order to kill the minotaur.

He told his father about his plan. Moreover, if he survived, he would put a white sail instead of a black one on the boat which would bring the fourteen people to Crete.

Afterwards, when Theseus arrived on the island, Ariane fell in love with him. So she gave him a gold thread to help him leave the labyrinth. When he saw the minotaur sleeping, he killed him with a sword and his fists. Then he left the labyrinth thanks to the ball which guided him to the exit and came back to Athens with the thirteen young people. But he forgot to put the white sail on. His father, seeing the black sail, thought his son had been killed and he commited suicide jumpimg into the sea.
