Watersports

There’re many sorts of watersport! I want to talk about the water sports you can do in the sea and ocean. I think you can divide watersports in three categories: surfing, sailing and diving.

Surfing must be the most popular of these three because in American and Australian films there are very often some surfing freaks! In America and Australia they often do Wavesurfing. It’s really funny and here in Europe you don’t need a certification for it. In Europe you’ll see more windsurfers and at the moment there are more and more people who are interested in kytesurfing. In Europe you need a certification for windsurfing and that costs about 40 €. I think for kytesurfing you need a certification too because it’s very hard.

Catamaransailing is dangerous, so you have to have a certificate for it, too. You learn to capcize the cat and where the wind comes from. The cat certification costs about 70 €.

You can increase your knowledge and do some other certifications where you learn to sail better and funnier like trapetzsailing.

The most dangerous watersport is diving I think. There are very many risks and because of this there are very many certifications! There is a certification for children you can make it if you are between 9 and 14 years. With this certification kids can dive twelve meters deep. The first adult certification allows you to dive 18 meters deep. The second certification allows you to dive 30 meters deep and the third and last allows you to dive 40 meters deep. But there are several certifications for example a certification for Nitroxdiving. And the first certification costs 300 €. But all the watersports are very funny! And if you have a certification you’ve got it all your life. I think if you try you’ll see that it’s really fun!

Congratulations for your article !!! I think it is very interesting because I love water sports ! Indeed, I have practiced swimming for 2 years and I'm fond of it. So your article is very interesting to me. And to complete it, I would say that there is another sea water sport, less known by vacationers. It consists in swimming for a long distance in the sea. But to do it, you must have a very good training and a special wetsuit to keep the body in a warm place !
A famous competition of this kind of water sport takes place in America, in St Laurent's lake. The swimmers must swim 77 km around St Laurent's Island! The winner spends about 13 hours to finish it, very tired obviously !!!
